Liverpool sits at the mouth of the Mersey River in Queens County — south along the coast from Lunenburg, past Bridgewater, into a different set of postal codes but the same climate and the same salt air. Historically a Loyalist settlement with a strong timber and fishing heritage, the town today mixes restored heritage buildings downtown with a wider spread of rural homes, waterfront cottages, and working properties across the rest of the county.
What Liverpool has in common with the rest of the South Shore is the weather — the exterior paint story is the same whether you’re painting a Loyalist-era house near the Mersey or a newer bungalow up toward White Point. Any building on the shore, or with a clear westerly wind, is going to see salt exposure. Newer builds farther inland get the same temperature swings and freeze-thaw as anywhere else in the province.
